Produktinformationen "CHATEAU MARGAUX 1900 1ER GRAND CRU CLASSÉ MARGAUX, BORDEAUX ROUGE"

Château Margaux has unquestionably reigned over the southern Haut Médoc since the 17th century. It was the first "claret" to be found in the renowned Christie's auction house and also topped the class in the 1855 classification, where it not only earned the title of Premier Grand Cru Classé, but also achieved a perfect score of 20/20.
From its inception, Château Margaux has been dedicated to excellence, overcoming crises (French Revolution, wars, phylloxera) thanks to significant investments from its owners who were captivated by the infinite potential of this terroir.

In 1977, André Mentzelopoulos purchased Margaux. This Greek businessman (owner of Felix Potin company) was charmed by the Ionic columns of the château (often referred to as the "Versailles of Médoc"), which reminded him of his native Greece. He initiated an impressive investment program. His impact was spectacular, whether in the vineyard, the cellars, or the château itself. He implemented drainage, replanting, and revived the Pavillon Rouge. He redefined the Pavillon Blanc of Château Margaux. He introduced the use of new barrels, planned the construction of the region's first major underground cellar, and finally, restored the château.

After his death in 1980, his daughter Corinne Mentzelopoulos took over the management of Château Margaux and continued her father's work, capitalizing on the exponential global demand for Bordeaux wines from 1982 onwards.
